Departing your local accommodator or cruise dock we’ll travel directly to the Annapolis valley.Despite the unlikely grape-growing climate, over the last 30 years, vineyards and wineries have been popping up across the Province, many of which have gained international recognition and produce award winning wines.
Our first stop will be the Sainte-Famille Wines is a small, family-owned winery located on land which was first settled by Acadians around 1685. Remains of the original church are still on the property today, although somewhat under water.
Our next stop will be at the oldest winery in Nova Scotia, Domaine De Grand Pré. This gorgeous winery not only produces award winning wines but also boasts an award-winning restaurant! With the Bay of Fundy as a back drop, explore this beautiful vineyard, tour their wine museum then sit back, sip and savour the flavours of their superb wine and cuisine.
Take an adventure through the vine yards to Old Post road behind the winery for a scenic look off at the Acadian memorial chapel on the Grand Pré national historic site grounds with the Bay of Fundy as its back drop!
As we leave this part of the Annapolis Valley, we'll pass through the quaint university town of Wolfville and take a scenic, country road to Gaspereau Vineyards.The first winery to establish itself in the Annapolis Valley, this small, boutique winery showcases some of the best wines Nova Scotia has to offer. Once a dairy farm and apple orchard, this 50-acre property has been transformed into a vineyard and passionately producing top quality wines ever since.
Following Gaspereau winery, we'll return to Halifax.
Time and interests providing a possible visit to Fox Hill Cheese farms,a sixth-generation family farm nestled in the lush fields of the Annapolis Valley. They plant the seed, grow the grass, milk their Holstein and Jersey cows, and use the finest, freshest quality milk in their processing facility. Fox Hill produces many varieties of savoury cheese, natural yogurt, luscious gelato, and pasteurized non-homogenized milk in glass bottles.
